Tutorial: Formula To Find Record URL In Airtable For Zapier Automation
Airtable, a cloud-based spreadsheet, allows you to carry out various functions in terms of CRM, project management, and asset management. In other words, it helps business converts the business data into digital data, which then assists the processes of automation and integrations. For one such Zapier Automation, we are going to set up a unique Airtable record URL formula.
Build an Airtable Record URL Formula
You have to start with opening an Airtable database and whichever table you want to create the formula in.
The first thing that you will do is to pick a view. But also need to make sure that before picking the view, there aren’t any filters. Well, this is because if it was filtered out, the automation would not work very well and effectively.
First Step For Airtable Record URL Formula – Copy URL
Right-click on the record in whatever view you are trying to create all this in. Then, copy the URL.
The Second Step- Create A Field “Formula”
Next up, create a field or customize the existing one into the Formula field.
Now is the time to create a unique Airtable record URL formula that goes like this:
1. Write “Concatenate.”
Concatenate allows you to pull two different text strings together into one. This is essential to write in order to tell the Airtable that we are doing text strings.
2. Pull the Strings
Ok, so how this works is that after typing concatenate, you will see two brackets. Here you will add inverted commas or the quote. Following this, you will paste the URL that you previously copied.
That’s not it, and you will have to delete the record ID from the URL. Now you might wonder how you will know what part of the URL is the record ID. Well, that’s easy; it will start with rec.
Once you are done deleting it, you will add a comma and put a record ID.
That’s all you need to do to create an Airtable record URL formula.
Next up, save, and you are done.
By using the Record Id function, which was our last step, a unique Record Id for every record or entry in the base is created.
To check, you can click any of the Airtable record URLs, and you will see that it is set up correctly.
For Integrations
Now, you can export this information in Zapier to connect your Airtable with other apps like Asana. These links come really handy when you are setting up the sub-information, the meta-information, or any other task in Asana.
The point is that the Airtable record URL formula allows you to set the records in no time. There are various methods of creating these formulas. Each is helping your business to become more efficient and save you a bunch of time.
