A Brief Guide of Airtable Slack Notification Automation!

Just before we dig into it if you are new to either of the apps let’s have an introduction for them first. Slack is a communicational tool used by business owners to stay connected with their team members. On the other hand, Airtable is a relational database spreadsheet tool with a cloud-based system that helps with the automation of the data.

1. Starting with Airtable

For the Airtable Slack notification automation, you head to your Airtable and choose any of the bases. Upon hovering the mouse on any of the bases, you will find a small arrow on the left-bottom side of the base icon. You click that, and there you will have an option of “Slack notification.”

2. Add you Slack

After clicking the “Slack notification” button, you will be led to a page where you will see two options:

• Job search

• Add to Slack

If you don’t have a Slack set up as of yet, you will click “add to Slack.” 

You will be required to add the URL of your workspace’s Slack. Next, you press “continue,” add your email and password and sign in. There you have your Slack and Airtable integrated.

Now is the time for Airtable Slack notification automation.

3. Access from Airtable To Post in Your Slack Channel

Once the integration is done, you will notice a page that will say, “Airtable is requesting permission to access your Slack workspace.”

You fill in the questions and grant permission by entering “allow.”

4. Choose the Activity

You will see the page on your screen asking you to opt for which type of activity you would like to receive updates for. There would be three options on your screens:

1. All activity in the base

2. Updates to watched records

3. Updates to records visible in a view

Choose whatever suits you the best. Mostly, it’s just the notification that will require the viewing hence the third option.

Then you will have to ask another question regarding which view would you like to receive updates for.

Next up, you can enable the “send a text message” if you want to. That’s up to your requirements. 

Don’t forget to switch on the enabled button and click Done.
